We were very well entertained by Fiona Hosford, a professional harpist, who played a variety of pieces on her harp. These ranged from Gershwin to Satie and Bacharach among other composers with Fiona ending the evening with a tour de force performance of David Watkins’ “Fire Dance”. Fiona also explained the workings of the harp, gently demystifying the instrument (which many might only know from the side of a foaming glass) and bravely allowing more enquiring members to touch and appreciate the mechanical intricacies of her big gilded harp. It was a most delightful and informal musical evening and we look forward to Fiona returning to Fairlight.
I saw you in ‘Seasons’, Sovereign Harbour last Friday evening (from where you played I was the guy on my own on your left hand side of the restaurant who you later popped over to speak to).
I just wanted to say how much I really enjoyed your terrific performance.
I’d never witnessed live harp music for a very long time and I’m glad that I went to Seasons to see such a performance.
I’ve since spoken to Steve and Christine at ‘Seasons’ to say how much I enjoyed the evening and I look forward to catching up with you and your amazing harp another time soon.
Hi Fiona, just want to say that my husband and I felt so lucky to have had you play the harp at our wedding ceremony. You played flawlessly throughout the event and our guests couldn’t stop signing your praises afterwards. Your music added a beautiful touch to the service which we really appreciate – thank you!! (January 2017)
Hi Fiona , just wanted to say how you and your harp made our wedding day ” The Perfect Day ” that it was ! Will never forget the sound of your harp music and how kind and friendly you were in helping us to pick our music ! X
Hi Fiona, just wanted to thanks on behalf of Sam & Richard, for your brilliant performance at their wedding. Your playing was superb, and you were so good to let the kids have a go on your harp too. You really did make the day so special of all of us, and you’re such a lovely lady too. Thanks a million, you’re a star.
We wanted to send an initial message to say thank you sooo much for adding that sparkle to our day. You are soo wonderful and it really was a pleasure.
Everyone loved you and your amazing talent. Wow!
Peter and I are just about to leave for our honeymoon but would like to say a quick thank you to you before we go. The ceremony music was beautiful, we are so happy we had you playing for us 😊 we had an absolutely amazing day.
I should like you to know how much we appreciated your playing on Saturday at The Chalk Farm Hotel. We were lucky to be at the table nearest to you and my wife and I – and, indeed, the other diners at our table, enjoyed the music hugely. The fact that we were talking a lot does not in the slightest mean that we were unaware of the music, but you went before one could properly thank you.
It must be odd to be seemingly ignored when you are playing so beautifully. Rest assured, there were many compliments made in your absence.
Thank you again for helping to make the afternoon so memorable for us all.
What can I say, you and your harp were wonderful and appreciated by everybody, thank you.
I am sorry I did not thank you on Friday, the time flew by with so many people to talk to who I had not seen for years.
Maybe our paths will cross in the future and I can thank you personally.
Kind regards and good luck for the future.
Karl and I just wanted to send you a note to say thank you so much for your wonderful playing on our wedding day. We had the most perfect day and you were a big part of that, so thank you very much!
We will be highly recommending you to anyone we know who needs a harpist 🙂
Best wishes, and thank you again,
