We were very well entertained by Fiona Hosford, a professional harpist, who played a variety of pieces on her harp.  These ranged from Gershwin to Satie and Bacharach among other composers with Fiona ending the evening with a tour de force performance of David Watkins’ “Fire Dance”.  Fiona also explained the workings of the harp, gently demystifying the instrument (which many might only know from the side of a foaming glass) and bravely allowing more enquiring members to touch and appreciate the mechanical intricacies of her big gilded harp.  It was a most delightful and informal musical evening and we look forward to Fiona returning to Fairlight.
